What Do Keloid Injections Cost in Victoria & Vancouver?

If you've tried to find out what it costs to have a keloid treated with steroid injections in BC, you've probably hit the same wall as everyone else: almost nobody will give you a number before you come in.

How to be seen for keloid or scar injections
These are by referral only — they can’t be booked online. Ask your family doctor, nurse practitioner, or any walk-in clinic to send a referral to Dr. Baldwin, and the clinic will contact you to arrange your appointment. This is different from Botox and cosmetic treatments, which you can book online directly.
No family doctor? A walk-in clinic or Urgent and Primary Care Centre can send the referral for you.

Keloid treatment has two features that make the pricing uniquely hard to compare. First, it's a series, not a single visit - injections are usually repeated every four to eight weeks over several sessions. Second, clinics price it in completely different ways: per session, per injection, or per keloid. Two quotes that sound similar can end up hundreds of dollars apart by the end of a course.

What Clinics Actually Charge

In September 2026 we asked more than a dozen clinics across Victoria, Vancouver and Burnaby what they charge for keloid steroid injections. Not one Victoria clinic would quote a price without a consultation - every number below came from Greater Vancouver:

Figures are from direct quotes provided by BC clinics in September 2026. Not every clinic contacted would share pricing without a consultation. Prices change - confirm with any provider directly.

Ask About the Series, Not the Session

A keloid flattens gradually, with injections repeated every four to eight weeks - a course of three or more sessions is common, and larger or older keloids can need more. This is the single most useful thing to understand when comparing prices: a $210-per-injection model or a $350-per-session quote isn't the cost of treatment, it's the cost of one instalment. Before committing anywhere, ask what a realistic full course will cost for your keloid.

What MSP Covers - and What It Doesn't

Under MSP's billing rules, keloid injections are an insured benefit only for keloids on the head and neck, including the earlobes - the classic piercing keloid. For those, no clinic in BC may charge you privately; treatment is arranged through MSP, usually by referral from your family doctor or nurse practitioner.

Keloids anywhere else - chest, shoulders, back, arms - are not an insured benefit under MSP. Treating them is a private cost at every clinic in the province, which is why the quotes above exist at all.

How Cost Works at My Practice

I publish my fees so you can do the arithmetic before you ever book:

So one keloid over a typical three-session course is $600 total. Someone with five keloids pays $300 per session, not $200 + 4 × $50 uncapped. One note on larger numbers: the steroid itself has a maximum safe dose per visit, which usually works out to roughly six keloids in one session - more extensive disease is treated over staged sessions, with the cap applying to each.

And consistent with the MSP rules above: keloids on the head, neck or earlobes aren't billed privately at my practice or anywhere else in BC - those are handled through MSP, usually by referral.
